Industrial 5G tipped for major role at MWC
Stephanie Lynch-Habib
CMO, GSMA
INTERVIEW: Cutting-edge 5G uses covering sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, IoT and aviation are expected to be among highlights of MWC22 Barcelona, GSMA CMO Stephanie Lynch-Habib revealed, noting the company had experienced high demand for the event.
Lynch-Habib told Mobile World Live there was a higher appetite and demand from exhibitors than for its MWC21 Barcelona event, with an expectation of more news and demonstrations of real life 5G use cases coming out of this year’s conference.
The GSMA CMO pointed to the new Industry City area of the exhibition, a zone dedicated to enterprise and verticals, and the varied conference programme as among the highlights of the event.
With health and safety at the forefront of minds, she explained the organisation was “in constant contact with the health authorities and are confident the measures we have in place are equal and/or above what is required and have the nod from those health bodies”.
“We know the situation is evolving and we’re constantly on top of that and always tweak the health and safety plan as needed.”
Lynch-Habib said all parties would be notified of changes in addition to changes being listed on the official website. Should attendees from outside Spain have to stay-on in the country due to travel restrictions, she noted there was an insurance policy in place to cover hotels and other expenses.
