Ericsson walks the walk with 5G factory
PAUL TSE
5G Customer Solutions Manager Ericsson
INTERVIEW: Automation and cost control were two primary goals for Ericsson when it designed a 5G radio manufacturing facility in the US running off a private network, executive Paul Tse told Mobile World Live.
Tse, 5G customer solutions manager with the company, explained a private 5G network at a site in Texas had boosted staff training and safety, along with automation and cost controls.
He explained Ericsson “decided to implement a full 5G network” to take advantage of the benefits of the next-generation technology.
The network enabled remote AR-based training by staff at Ericsson’s headquarters in Sweden while they were unable to travel due to Covid-19 (coronavirus).
Ericsson’s network transmits data from video cameras inside the factory and enabled cuts in the vendor’s energy and water usage.
