Qualcomm unveils AI-powered innovations
Qualcomm pitched itself as an accelerator of digital transformation after unveiling its latest on-device intelligent computing and wireless connectivity products, which tapped the tsunami of AI-related announcements at this year’s event.
Leading its charge is the AI Hub, a library of more than 75 optimised models Qualcomm states simplifies deployment of the technology by app developers, explaining in promotional material it can run the models “with a few lines of code on cloud-hosted devices”.
Also unveiled was the Snapdragon X80 5G modem-RF system, targeting 5G-Advanced technology and the non-terrestrial network (NTN) sector.
Qualcomm stated the set-up is the first to enable six-carrier aggregation (6CA) in the downlink and a pioneering implementation of satellite communications in a 5G chip.
It also announced FastConnect 7900, an AI-optimised connectivity system compatible with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth and ultra-wideband technologies said to deliver “meaningful optimisations” of power consumption, network latency and throughput.
