NGMN CEO makes case for cloud
CEO at industry association NGMN Alliance Anita Dohler emphasised the role of cloud solutions in advancing operational efficiency and meeting ever-evolving user demands for operators, pitching the technology as one of the key elements in the digitalisation journey.
Speaking to MWC Daily News, Dohler identified a growing interest in cloud adoption among European operators, with many companies exploring the possibility of transitioning their network infrastructure to cloud-native architectures.
This is because the deployment of cloud architecture allows operators to better manage their networks, enabling a more scalable environment in which they can seamlessly adjust their network capacity “to meet fluctuating traffic demands” through tools designed specifically for the cloud, Dohler explained.
“Standardising telco operations on cloud platforms, or a set of clouds, also yields operational efficiencies by reducing the reliance on multiple systems and tools,” she added, pointing to the ability to streamline network management and maintenance.
Dohler added cloud vendors in the telecoms space are also “actively developing products and solutions” to support transitions to the cloud, a move which reflects a growing investment in the technology within the industry.
Cloud-native tools also allow operators to “rapidly prototype, develop and deploy new services to market”, enabling them to quickly respond to end-user preferences and market trends.
“By leveraging cloud native solutions, telcos can position themselves at the forefront of industry transformation and deliver enhanced services to meet evolving consumer needs,” the executive added.
Anita Dohler will be speaking at the Go Cloud or Go Home session in Hall 6 Stage B at 11am.
