Media guru tips content for digital divide impact
Derrick Ashong, CEO of fintech company Take Back the Media (TBTM), highlighted the importance of using innovative and unusual methods to bridge the digital divide ahead of his keynote on Tuesday.
Speaking at Mobile World Live’s Unwrapped event in the run-up to MWC, Ashong (pictured) explained how his organisation rewards consumers with tokens that can be exchanged for mobile data plans through media app Take Back the Mic.
“One of the coolest rewards you can give somebody for engaging with music, arts and culture is actually an easier way to go online,” he added, while teasing a forthcoming partnership between TBTM and a global partner potentially set to be announced during MWC.
At the event he will discuss the company’s efforts in making technology more accessible as part of a session set to investigate how private-public partnerships can remove online barriers.
“The changing demographics of the world are going to create a revolution in the content space”, Ashong added. During his keynote, the entrepreneur will expand on how mobile players can be a part of this change.
Ashong will speak during the Society First session at 9.30am Tuesday alongside a number of other prominent speakers including secretary general at Global Child Forum Katarina Mellstrom and Telenor CEO Sigve Brekke.
