KDDI opts for Red Hat OpenShift platform
Operator KDDI selected open source software provider Red Hat's hybrid cloud application platform OpenShift to speed the development and launch of new mobile services and applications.
Tatsuo Sato, Managing Officer Network and Cloud Platform at KDDI, said by implementing an open approach, the operator can enhance its offering to provide a higher quality of service with more efficient operations.
The platform is designed to enable KDDI to optimise network slicing and ultra-low latency services on its 5G core, with the ability to provide high bandwidth and increased reliability. OpenShift can host legacy workloads such as LTE, fixed-line voice and value-added services, the vendor noted.
Red Hat added KDDI also will be able to better work with ecosystem partners to advance open cloud-native innovations and deploy new and emerging technologies to fuel next-generation 5G services.
